Description

Part of the Gangotri Group of the Garhwal Himalaya, Chaukhamba is itself a massif with four summits. The highest of its summits, Chaukhamba I, is the highest peak in the entire Gangotri Group, at 7,138m. It is classified as an ultra-prominent peak, with other 1,500m of prominence. The other peaks on the massif are Chaukamba II (7,070m), Chaukamba III (6,995m) and Chaukamba IV (6,854m).
